For the third year in a row, the 6th grade at Pine Peace School has participated in the Coastweeks International Coastal Clean-up, inviting other classes to work along with them. This year, the 5th grade joined them for a day of work and fun! Like all of the other years, the group cleaned Haulover Beach facing the island of Tortola of the BVIs. Unlike other years, the group found less garbage. NPS Ranger Don Near, who has worked with us each year, hopes that this is a sign that the beach clean-ups are working. We hope so, too!
After working at clean-up the beach all morning, we travel to Big Maho Beach for lunch and an afternoon of swimming.
Each year, Mr. Frett, James' father, has provided transportation to the group on his safari bus. It's a lot of fun to travel together as one large group!
Here are some pictures of the exciting day!
