Personal Statement Of Philosophy

I believe in the total development of the child; emotional, physical, social and cognitive development. As a result the school should offer the necessary programs and activities to promote growth in these areas.

Critical to all of this is the ability to develop the child’s self esteem. With this in place children will always strive to their best. Failure would just be an indication to work harder to try other approaches to solve the problem.

I believe that a broad based curriculum is very important especially in the early years. This provides the opportunity for the child to grow into a well-rounded person.

Classrooms must be a source of inspiration for students. They must be the center of the learning process with a teacher as a facilitator, providing hands on active learning environment.

I believe that the educator must know the parents of the children that they teach. There should be two-way communication. Parents should always be involved and aware of what is taking place in the classroom and help to reinforce it at home.

Above all, each child must be considered a person, a unique individual who must be respected. Disrespect should not be tolerated. So as the leader, the teacher must strive to respect the student at all times and encourage them to respect others. In such a setting the children will stand a greater chance to develop to the best of their ability.
